• N-Acetyl-l-Cysteine (NAC) is a derivative of the dietary amino acid l-cysteine. NAC has a high affinity for lung tissue, which it supports through mucolytic and antioxidant action.

  NAC may support the functioning of your respiratory system. Since it contains sulfur N-Acetyl-l-Cysteine may thin the mucus by weakening the disulfide bonds. As a result you can expel the mucus from your upper respiratory tract more easily; this can help you feel better especially because mucus also traps bacteria and other particles.

  In addition NAC serves as a predecessor to glutathione meaning that it promotes increased production of the antioxidant; this may be especially helpful as you age. A N-Acetyl-l-Cysteine supplement may boost the level of glutathione present in your tissues which can boost immunity and make you less likely to get sick.
